There are various methods for resolving family law disputes, and our family lawyers can help you choose the best approach for your specific situation.
Negotiated settlements usually provide the best overall outcome, minimizing costs and stress while preserving future interactions with your partner. This is particularly important when children are involved, as ongoing communication about their welfare will be necessary.
If court proceedings become necessary, you can trust that we have the expertise and experience to advocate assertively on your behalf.
The first appointment is a crucial part of the process. During this meeting, we will assess your needs, advise you on your legal rights, and present options for resolving your matter. Many clients report feeling clearer and more reassured after their initial consultation with us. Even if you don’t plan to take immediate action, you will leave the initial meeting with a better understanding of how family law applies to your situation and the different paths available to resolve any issues.
If you have received court documents or a letter from your partner’s lawyer, it’s best to send them to us before your appointment so our family lawyers can review them in advance. For property or financial matters, please provide a list of your assets and liabilities, along with your most recent superannuation statements. If you are married, a copy of your marriage certificate will also be helpful. When you contact us to schedule an appointment, we will provide a list of documents to bring to your meeting.
Our fees are based on the time spent on your matter. Contact us for information on our current hourly rates. The first appointment typically lasts between 1 and 1.5 hours.
During the first appointment, we can give you an estimate of the likely costs to resolve your matter. Please note that we do not offer the first appointment for free, and we do not handle legal aid cases.
